I got my chimney swept 6 months ago why do I need another one already?
Creosote accumulation depends on many different factors. Typically, is it the moisture of the wood. If you are burning un seasoned or damp, wood it will make the flue build up with sticky black creosote very quickly. Wood with 15-20% moisture content is going to be the best fuel for your chimney as it won’t create as much creosote.
Why do I need to have my chimney swept?
Chimney fires are typically caused by build up of creosote, which could be very dangerous for you and your home. Creosote is also very acidic so it will deteriorate your flue if it is not properly and regularly cleaned.
Will I receive a report for what the tech found during the sweep?
The tech has 24-48 hours to send you an estimate and work order. The work order you receive will have information such as how much creosote was in your chimney, and any issues they may have found.
What if there Is a problem with my appliance?
If there is a problem with your appliance the tech will immediately notify you. The tech will also give you an estimate for any repairs needed to get your chimney in safe working order. Our customers safety is always our top priority.
What do I need to do to prepare for my chimney sweep?
To prepare for your chimney sweep you should let the appliance completely cool for 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Our techs are not able to clean a flue if it is still hot.
What is a chimney sweep?
A sweep is a term we use in this industry to describe a cleaning. The tech will clean the chimney from the bottom up with a powered drill that will ensure the flue is completely clean. The tech will use different attachments depending on your flue type and how much accumulation has built up.
When do I pay?
Payment is due upon completion of the job. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit/debit card. Credit/debit card payments can be made over the phone or online with the link we provide with your invoice we email.
What happens if I do not need a sweep?
The tech will still perform an inspection to confirm that a sweep is not needed. This is also to make sure that no repairs are needed. You will not be charged for services that are not done.
Why do you only service my area during certain times of the year?
During the busier season which typically runs from September to January we cannot expand our service area outside local towns. During the summers months we are able to expand our service area out. If you have any questions on this, please call the office and we are more than happy to help.
What if the tech finds something wrong with my chimney?
The technician will discuss any repairs that are needed to your chimney and answer any questions or concerns you may have as well. You will also receive an estimate of the repairs so you need exactly what needs to be done. Which, you will receive 24-48 hours from your appointment.
Do you sweep gas appliances?
We do not work on any gas appliances. In NH you need a licensed gas fitter to be able to work on any chimneys the vent gas appliances.
Do I need to shut off my stove for the appointment?
Yes. All appliances except oil furnaces need to be shut off at least 24 hours before the appointment.
How long does a sweep normally take?
It usually takes up to 30 minutes for the tech to sweep one flue.
Do I need to be there for the appointment?
We do recommend that you are there for the appointment, so the tech can answer any questions or concerns that you may have during the appointment.
How do I make an appointment?
