Now is the Time to Schedule Your Chimney Inspection
During summer is the ideal time to schedule maintenance for your chimney. Scheduling in the summer means you can get it done. Then enjoy your time knowing the fireplace and chimney system will be ready to work this fall!
Avoid the Fall Rush
By scheduling your chimney inspection today you can avoid the fall rush, the time between October and January when chimney professionals are busy with emergency calls, installations, and repairs. It can be difficult and nearly impossible to get desired appointment times, technicians, and even the company you want during this time. It’s best to avoid the risk, and just schedule now. Get your inspection on the books today, so you can breathe easier tomorrow.
More Time for a Thorough Inspection
CSIA Inspections are categorized into three levels. This method means the technician only assesses the basics, unless there is a problem. If a problem is detected then a more thorough level of assessment is conducted. Depending on the condition of your chimney system, your technicians may need more time to inspect the chimney. You don’t want to be left in the cold while your chimney damage is diagnosed! Schedule the level 1 inspection now and insure you have time for any issues that may come up.
- Level 1 Inspection
Required if nothing has changed with your system through the year, with continued use under the same conditions. It is an assessment of the readily accessible portions of your chimney systems for basic soundness of the chimney structure. Also, basic appliance installation and connections. The technician will also look for obstruction and combustible deposits. - Level 2 Inspection
Required when changes are made to the system. This includes fuel type, lining, and the replacement, repair, or installation of new equipment. This inspection is also required for the transfer of property, following a malfunction, or an event that might have caused damage to the chimney. Like the Level 1, this level inspection doesn’t require any special tools for gaining access to hidden locations. However, it does include accessible portions of the interior and exterior chimney as well as attics, crawl spaces, and basements. - Level 3 Inspection
Required when serious hazards are detected in a level 2 inspection to determine the condition and safety of the chimney system. This inspection includes all the areas and items from a level 1 and 2 inspection as well as hidden portions. The technician may remove certain building and chimney components to gain necessary access to the chimney system.
More Time for Repairs
If your inspection reveals a problem with your chimney system, you will need time and money for necessary repairs before the fall. Scheduling the inspection during the summer means more time for these repairs. Summer is also easier on the wallet. If you wait until fall or winter, repair costs may come out of your holiday budget!
There’s really no reason to put off your chimney inspection. By scheduling it now, you can rest easy for the rest of the summer knowing it’s ready for the first fire of burn season.
